Internship Program

Each year Conexant has internship opportunities for bachelor, master and doctoral students that are interested in working in the semiconductor industry. The Conexant internship program is considered to be a valuable company strategy as it provides a means to identify and meet entry level hiring needs. This results in select interns being converted to full-time employees upon completion of their degree program. Students obtain valuable work experience that contributes to their academic success.

Program Overview

Conexant's internship program provides paid internships in a variety of areas including, engineering, operations, technical marketing, finance, legal and human resources. The primary goal of this program is provide students with valuable work experience that aligns with their field of study and career interests. Most interns are selected from universities that are located in proximity to a Conexant site.

Mentors are carefully selected by management and are responsible for providing technical assistance and guidance to the interns. Mentors also serve as role models and ensure that the intern's experience at Conexant is enjoyable and meaningful.

The availability of internships during the school year is based upon business needs. Conexant typically hires a larger number of interns during the summer for a 10-12 week period. As a result, select summer interns may be retained to work on a part time basis during the school year.

Social and professional development activities are a fundamental part of the internship program. In the past, interns have had the opportunity to meet with members of the senior management team. These activities are intended to acquaint the interns with Conexant and its business strategies and products. In addition, interns have been treated to Disneyland and the exclusive Club 33, Dave & Busters, harbor cruises and baseball games.

Interns may be asked periodically to do presentations on assigned projects. Additionally, a final presentation to management is typically required at the conclusion of an internship. Interns also receive a final performance evaluation from their manager and are provided with the opportunity to evaluate their internship experience during an exit interview with the internship coordinator.

Majors Sought

Conexant is interested in hiring the best BS, MS, PhD students in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering. Undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Business and MBA candidates with technical undergraduate degrees are also invited to submit their resumes.

Application and Selection Process

Each year Conexant receives hundreds of resumes for its internship program. Resumes are collected throughout the year from on-campus recruiting events, staff, faculty and employee referrals. Interested students are asked to visit the Conexant website to complete a profile and paste their resume.

The University Relations staff works directly with the hiring managers to source resumes. Hiring managers are responsible for reviewing the resumes and conducting phone screens with select candidates. Based on phone screen results, candidates are invited to Conexant for interviews. Lastly, the hiring managers make recommendations to their upper level management that reviews and approves candidates and their offers.

Please note that there is no specific application deadline; however, resumes for summer internships are usually reviewed annually during the months of January through March.

Interns can expect to receive competitive salaries based upon level in school completed. They are also responsible for their own transportation and not all positions provide housing.
